Pilates Based Mat Exercise

PILATES BUILDS STRENGTH, IMPROVES FLEXIBILITY AND JOINT MOBILITY

Pilates exercises are designed to strengthen the body's core (i.e. the abdominal and back regions) by developing pelvic stability and abdominal control. Pilates builds strength, improves flexibility and joint mobility. This method of exercising stresses slow, controlled, movements and proper breathing techniques. A Pilates session can help identity a person's strength and flexibility weaknesses.

Conventional workouts tend to concentrate on the same muscle groups, which can lead to tension and injury. Pilates tries to get rid of tension by strengthening the muscles in the deeper torso and the muscles around the spine to prevent injury. Even the smallest muscle groups are isolated and worked so efficiently that a little goes a long way. A lot of people work too hard, because they make demands on their bodies and work from the outside. What you are going to gain from a Pilates workout is a longer, leaner, stronger, durable, flexible body with emphasis on proper postural alignment.

Group Reformer

2-4 PEOPLE IN A CLASS

Using an apparatus called the Reformer, exercise adding spring tension and straps on a moving carriage. An understanding of fundamental Pilates body alignment and prior experience on the reformer is required upon class entry. It is recommended to have 3-5 private sessions on the reformer before joining a group class.
